Post Office March 8,2011

The Argyle Post Office may be closed, we need everyones' help to stop this from happening. A date for a meeting will be scheduled to discuss the options and any way that we any be able to help.

There will be a fun day for children and families at the We Care Park in April. A cookout of hot dogs will be served. There will be Argyle, Defuniak Springs Fire Department and Walton County Fire Department and Liberty Fire Department. More info will be following

Patriot Flag CeremonyJanuary 24,2011

On January 17, 2011Walton County joined South Walton Fire District in honoring America's first responders and the vistims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. South Walton hoisted a 30'x58' American flag in the Publix shopping complex at 2038 Hwy 90 W in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

The Patriot Flag program was established by a group of California firefighters which started on Sept. 10, 2010 with the goal to fly the flag in all 50 states in 50 weeks to pay tribute to the nation's armed forces and first responders. The Patriot Flag will end its tour at the World Trade Center site Sept. 11, 2011.

TrainingJanuary 23,2011

On January 13, 2011 Argyle Fire Department had their weekly training, these pictures are of that training. Before each training class the men have an hour of physical training. On January 22, 2011,was tactical training.

Flag for 9-11January 12,2011

There will be a flag coming to south Walton, this flag will be held up by two ladder trucks at 10:00 a.m. in the publix parking lot in South Walton parking lot. This flag will be flown in every state of America, Walton county was picked to fly the flag for teh state of Florida. Any firefighters wishing to to be involved in the ceremony please contact Chief Day. After the flag is flown in all states it will be retired at ground zero in New York City. You may also have a chance to fold the flag.

RadiosJanuary 12,2011

All the 800 Maccom radios will be reprogrammed on January 18, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. All members who have these radios please bring them to Station 91 before this date and time.

ElectionsJanuary 3,2011

Argyle Fire Board had their monthly meeting after normal business. The board had to vote on seats for the board. All members at the time could vote on board members and the fire chief. All board members were voted back in. Joe Simpson was voted in to fill an empty slot. Brandon Carroll is the board chairman. Thomas Brooks is Vice Chairman, Larry Standland is the Sec/Treas and Jonathon Day was voted back in as chief.

DonationDecember 18, 2010

Walton County donated a fax and copier to the fire department on December 09, 2010. We would like to thank Tammy Bradley for this donation.

New MembersDecember 18, 2010

There are new members that were voted in on Dec 13, 2010. These new members are Chase Crow, Jennifer Simpson, Jessica Norris, Kody Brown and Kelby Wilcox. Although Kody Brown was voted in we also would like to wish him luck. Kody went to basic training for the Air Force recently.

CookoutDecember 18, 2010

There will be a cookout on Dec 23, 2010 at Station 91. Everyone attending please bring a covered dish. The main meal will be hamburgers and hot dogs. If you have any ideas of what to bring call Chief Day.

Argyle would like to thank Jannette Howlley as a sponser through Purdue Farms. Purdue Farms ahs donated a case of chicken roasters to needy families in the area. First Responder ClassNovember 28, 2010

Some firefighters recently completed first responder class. These members are Chief Jonathon Day, Ira Roberts, Michael Lancaster, Cody Brown and Joe Simpson. We would also like to thank Ted and Jessica Brown from Freeport Fire. Also two Liberty units went through the class as well as two Freeport units. Fire one with Capt. Kenny Reynolds is going good. P.T. is done before each Fire one class.

Fire Department DinnerOctober 22, 2010

The fire department dinner will be held on October 23, 2010 at the Best Western in DeFuniak Springs.

First Responder Class October 22, 2010

First Respnder classes started October 18th. They will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. It is a forty hour class. Fire one class at station 91 will start soon. Forestry classes are still on hold. DoF fire level is at 600 very dry, By the looks of it, it is going to be a very bad season as far as being dry. Every one needs to call foresty to get a burn permit before burning. Twenty five feet from woods , 50' from public highways , 25' from your house , 150' from other houses, for an 8' diameter pile or non combustible container burn permit is required. Fire One Class July 4, 2010

Liberty Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a Fire One Class at their fire station every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Starting on July 6th, 2010.

CPR Class June 29, 2010

There will be a CPR class on Saturday July 24th at 8:00 a.m. All those that do not have CPR need to attend. There will also be a CERT class starting next month. The date will be announced when it is official.

Welcome to Our World May 28, 2010

Argyle would like to welcome Silas Fisher Cosson to our community, He was born on May 28, 2010 at 2:15 p.m. He weighed 5lb. 2 ounces and 19 inches long. We congratulate his parents Austin and Tiffany Cosson. Austin and Tiffany are both members of Argyle Volunteer Fire Department.

Farmers Co-Op May 25, 2010

Earlier this month the Farmers Co-Op donated some equipment to the fire department. The Co-Op closed down last year. the building was setting empty for months until Argyle was given permission to enter the building and get what they were allowed to take. Included in this were about 20 metal shelves that will be dispersed between all three stations, peg board for these shelves, 2 fire extinquishers, which will be put on the fire trucks , 1 step ladder that will be used at Station 91 and other miscellaneous items. Although Argyle is holding some of the equipment for them until Farmers say whether or not Argyle can have them or be given back to auction of at a later date.

Hurricane Seminar May 25, 2010

Freeport Cert is sponsoring the Hurricane Seminar that is coming up on Thursday, May 27th at 7 pm and it is at the Freeport Community Center. Ofelia was not able to get a meteorologist to attend because of the timing she thinks she will be about an hour and a half of your time and help you get better pepared for this more active year.

Cheif Day would like members to know that they will be starting their Tanker Shuttle classes on Tuesday June 1st, 2010

Certification May 24, 2010

Cheif Jonathon Day and Assistant Cheif Sparky Banks attended an instructors course on EVOC at Pace Fire Deparment in Pace Florida. They took the instructor course in order to be able to give the EVOC course on their own. The class was given bu VFIS instructor Jamie Green and Chief Donnie Watkins of the Pace Fire Department. We would like to tank instructor Greene, and Chief Watkins along with Coggins Insurance Company, John Coggins helped bring the class to Pace and provided lunch on Saturday. VFIS and John Coggins provided a Powerpoint VD and DVD's for the fire department. Other fire departments that were in attendence were South Walton, Dorcas Pace and some military Fire departments. Those that attended will be receiving their certificates in a few weeks.

Donation April 16, 2010

Argyle would like to thank the Friends of the Family Visitation Center for their donation of a television and 2 VCR/DVD players. The Assistant director of the Family Visitation Center is Anne Ryan. Once again thanks go to the visitation center for their donation.

Training night March 23, 2010

Argyle has training night every Tuesday throughout the year. This is just an example of what the firefighters go through to learn their trade. Whether it is cleaning the station or training with a real fire.
